Managing Partner and Co-Founder
David M. Boatman currently serves as Managing Partner and Co-Founder of Woodford Group LLC, and has been in this current role since 2018. He is also the Managing Partner and Co-Founder for Woodford Properties LLC, a Luxury Property Management company. David and his wife, Lacey, have been an avid real estate investors in residential and vacation properties since 2004.
He previously served as Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Sonic Automotive, a FORTUNE 300 company. He has worked in the Technology industry for more than thirty years with more than thirteen years in the Automotive Industry. He also served as a founder of a software company focused on the healthcare and automotive industries for the Caribbean and South America while living in Puerto Rico, Barbados and Brazil. David attended Asbury University focusing on Computer Science and holds a Bachelor degree in Business Management from Montreat College.
David also serves as a Board member for the non-profit Banjo’s Buddies. This non-profit is focused on children with Type-1 diabetes for education and support as they work to manage this disease.
He enjoys time with Lacey traveling and spending time with their adult children. His favorite place is on the lake or riding his mountain bike. He has two adult sons and two adult daughters, and has been blessed with with two granddaughters.

Partner and Co-Founder
Lacey J Boatman is an entrepreneur and clinical psychologist. She started her own medical device company in 2009 called Head to Toe Ortho. She grew the company over 8 years to cover a 200 mile radius of Charlotte, North Carolina, serving more than 20 offices, doctors and surgeons. She sold the company after growing it over eight years. She and her husband own a growing real estate investment company called Woodford Group LLC, and a property management company called Woodford Properties LLC. They specialize in small multifamily (2-40 doors) and short term rentals.
World Hope International is a non-profit organization that Lacey and David are heavily involved with. They provide wells and fresh water to impoverished people across the world. Lacey is also involved in non-profits focused on Dementia and Alzheimer's because of losing her mom in 2021 after three years of battling Dementia.
Lacey and David reside in Charlotte, North Carolina and they have four adult children and two grandchildren. They are very involved with their church and several local charities. Lacey is an accomplished singer, violinist and grandma extraordinaire!

General Manager
Jody Bryant has joined the Woodford family as General Manager with responsibilities for field operations and business development. She grew up in the Blue Ridge Mountains and spent much of her childhood playing in the Smokies. Having grown up in this area she developed a deep love of the magic of the mountains. Jody began working in the Short-Term Rental industry about twenty-five years ago as a cleaner, and then was a co-owner of a cleaning business for about ten years. Since then Jody has had extensive experience as a General Manager with other Short-Term Rental companies.
Jody is also a professor of history (specializing in ancient religions, Appalachian Studies and Egyptology) for East Tennessee State University. Jody has been in the Academic setting for many years having worked for Tusculum University and other regional community colleges. She is currently a candidate for Doctor of Liberal Studies at the University of Memphis with a focus on Egyptology and Museum Studies.
Jody is a proud grandmother of three girls and three boys, with another on the way and due to arrive in May. She is also a beekeeper, and staunch advocate for the survival of our all to quickly fading European Honeybee. Jody has an Australian Shepherd and a cat. Finally, she is an avid watercolor artist.

Real Estate Developement and Acquisition
Todd Hicks currently serves as a Founding Partner of South Oak Partners, LLC. They are a Land Acquisition, Entitlement and Development company serving the NC and SC market places. South Oak Partners is involved in acquiring land to either entitle and/or develop lots for residential homebuilders. His company works very closely with local municipalities, utility contractors and grading contractors to provide horizontal development infrastructure for communities to provide housing needs for their citizens. Prior to South Oak Partners, Todd was the Managing Partner for True Custom Homes where he was responsible for not only Land Acquisition and development but also had a full homebuilding and sales team that was responsible for construction and sales of 75 single-family custom homes per year. Todd had been involved in Real Estate and Real Estate Investing for over 15 years. Prior to the Real Estate industry, Todd held several leadership position the the Technology industry.
Todd and his wife Melinda, currently reside in Charlotte NC and have 2 sons, Griffin(22) who is a senior student-athlete at Samford University and Cameron (20) also a student -athlete who is a freshman at Wofford College. Todd and Melinda enjoy time fishing, playing golf and tennis and traveling.

Marketing and Advertising
Joseph H Moody leads the Marketing and Advertising activities for the Woodford group of companies.
Joe Moody, has been a business owner in the Charlotte, NC market for 20-plus years and his companies appeared in the Business Journals Fast 50 on five separate occasions. His last marketing company, "Focus On Results," provided a systematic way to improve businesses ROI by providing trackable data points to better understand what's working and what's not.
Mr. Moody has been an entrepreneur and big picture guy all his life. He detests failure, and no setback has ever dampened his spirit to succeed. His determination and passion is something he hopes to never lose.
With his past business experience of being a marketer, he understands what marketing metrics resonate with business owners by utilizing the full spectrum of demographics, socioeconomic and lifestyle data available. Independent business owners, specifically retailers need to know and thoroughly understand who their customers are, what they like, and where they live. Marketing to retain a customer produces the highest ROI among all marketing investments, however you have to first acquire a customer enabling them to Know you, Like you and Trust you.

Legal Counsel
Andrew McCullough is outside counsel for Woodford Group LLC and all member companies.
Andrew McCullough is a founding member of Venn Law Group.
With 18 years of commercial real estate experience, Andrew’s practice covers a wide array of matters and transactions, including acquisition/disposition, development, financing, leasing, and property management matters.
Andrew also has experience in general corporate/business law, including the formation of entities and real estate joint ventures, general contract work (reviewing, drafting and negotiating), loan restructuring and work-outs, and the buying and selling of businesses.
Andrew is a native of Charlotte, NC, and has 4 small children with his wife Katie.

CPA and TAX
Julie Ayers is a partner in Aprio and our outside CPA and TAX executive for the Woodford group companies.
Julie Ayers leads the Tax practice in Aprio’s Charlotte office in North Carolina. Julie’s area of concentration is real estate, but her deep knowledge of tax law and strategic application of regulations make her a sought-after advisor across a variety of industries.
One of Julie’s passions is helping women-owned businesses succeed. Julie assists female business owners by educating them on general business topics, important tax law changes, grants and business opportunities. Her dedication to the growing community of women-owned businesses has been recognized by:
Julie spent the early part of her career working for Community Management Corporation, a prominent property management company in Washington, D.C. In this role she developed strategies to reduce the financial burdens that unsold condominiums placed on associations and property owners. This experience kindled her interests in becoming a CPA as well as her personal approach to business consulting.
Julie has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina and completed the CPA program at the University of Virginia. Through the AICPA, she earned her Chartered Global Management Accountant designation and is a Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional.
In her free time, Julie enjoys spending time with her family and traveling throughout the United States and abroad.
